MEET DAVID:
1. When and Why did you first start coming to Coastal Strength & Fitness?
I first started at CF in May of 2019. The girlfriend I had been dating for a few months was into FIT (a lighter version of Cross-fit) and I was impressed by her level of fitness and tone. I started looking into these whole-body type programs and noted that another friend, Chris Lansford, was working out at Coastal, so I thought I'd give it a try. After a year, my girlfriend, Joanna, joined too.
2. What fitness activities/sports were you doing before you joined Coastal?
I had been running, almost continuously since I was 37 (now 53) and the quality of my runs seemed to be declining. I was also struggling to lose weight (i thought around 10-15 lbs was where I would be good) but not really knowing anything more than "run-harder, eat-less". I typically ran 2-3x a week, 6-15 miles per week total. The down-side was that often, when I did a long-run, I would be a cripple for 2-3 days later with slow recovery, no fun.
3. What results have you seen since you joined Coastal Strength & Fitness?
After talking with the coaches and understanding the benefits of eating proteins, working out consistently, and basically not being so hard on myself- I ended up dropping over 25 lbs, not feeling starved, and my running is literally better than it ever was, and is still improving. I now typically run perhaps once a week, just for fun, but I can rip out a 7+ mile run with essentially zero recovery time (Ok, my calves are little sore, but that's about it). I am thrilled with the results.
4. What do you like most about Coastal Strength & Fitness?
Passive Accountability - the coaches are always happy to tell you what is necessary to get the results you are looking for and they are going to follow-up regularly to see how you are doing. But, if you don't always do it, they come to the level where you are at and then try to work from there. They're always encouraging, its a great approach to keep you motivated. I also really enjoy that the workouts are the same for everyone, whether you are 20 or 80, and that we all find our groove and do it together... its inspiring.
5. What is your favorite Coastal training day of the week and why?
The day after every training-day I manage to attend, because that means I did it.
Lightning Round Questions:
1. What is your Spirit animal?
I don't think I have one.
2. If you were a Superhero, what would your super power be?
Running.... that's so unimaginative
3. What is your favorite treat meal?
Popcorn
