Member Spotlight: Krista Howard

1. When and Why did you first start coming to Coastal Strength & Fitness?
I started at Coastal in Nov/Dec 2014. I joined because I wanted to be in the best shape possible for my upcoming wedding in June 2015 and I was very bored with my current gym and workouts. I needed something more motivating than what I was doing and had been doing for awhile.
2. What fitness activities/sports were you doing before you joined Coastal?
Prior to joining Coastal, I was working out regularly at the YMCA as well as running almost daily. I had run one half marathon and was also playing indoor soccer.
3. What results have you seen since you joined Coastal Strength & Fitness?
Since joining Coastal I have seen a big difference in my body composition. Like Gary told me on day 1, I haven't seen much difference in my actual weight but I have seen my body change in inches and overall strength and tone.
One of the biggest differences I notice on a daily basis is I no longer have back pain from work. I'm an ICU nurse and there used to be many days my bad would hurt from having to lift and turn heavy patients every day who could move on their own at all. Since I've gained so much strength in my back and upper body, I haven't had back pain in forever and I'm so thankful for that.
4. What do you like most about Coastal Strength & Fitness?
My favorite thing about Coastal is the extra push the coaches give you when you need it most and the variety of the workouts. Most mornings I'm coming after working night shift and just walking in the door is half the battle. Having the coaches give you that little extra nudge of one more rep or a little more weight is great. I like that I kinda know what to expect with each workout but at the same time everyday is something different and that keeps it fun for me.
5. What is your favorite Coastal training day of the week and why?
My favorite day/workout is arm day and Tuesdays. I love arm day because upper body strength is something I've always lacked. When I first started at Coastal I could not do a single chin up. Gary worked really hard with me on gaining the strength and technique and now I can do 5-6 consecutive. I also love Tuesday's because I really really enjoy cardio. I secretly love ladders and overall just love cardio based workouts.

My spirit animal is a dolphin.
2. If you were a Superhero, what would your super power be?
My super power would be flying.
3. What is your favorite cheat meal?
My favorite cheat meal is anything with lots of wine and cheese!!!
