1. When and Why did you first start coming to Coastal Strength & Fitness?
I came to Coastal in August of 2015. Although I have always been very physically active, I was approaching 50, my metabolism was slowing down, and my running program was no longer enough to keep the spare tire off my mid-section. I felt my exercise routine was pretty rigorous and I started to resign myself to the fact that middle age meant a bigger middle. Some friends at work told me about Coastal and I decided to check it out.
2. What fitness activities/sports were you doing before you joined Coastal?
I have always been physically active and paid attention to my diet. Through the years I have focused on various fitness trends such as running, weight training, cardio, spinning, yoga, and pilates. All of these were fun and enjoyable, but none of them were working for me anymore. It wasn't until I got to Coastal and learned about putting the strength training, cardio, diet, and rest all together that I began to see results.
3. What results have you seen since you joined Coastal Strength & Fitness?
I was never terribly overweight, just beginning to experience that middle age spread. I have actually gained weight since I started Coastal, but I have lost inches and gone down a full pants size. I got rid of the scale and started paying attention to how my clothes fit. I have packed on a lot of muscle all over; I have lost the spare tire around my mid-section, I stand up straighter, I am about a half an inch taller, and I feel so much better. I don't have to be round little old lady!
4. What do you like most about Coastal Strength & Fitness?
I love the support of the Coastal Members Group; we are truly a community of great people of all ages, abilities, and from all walks of life. I also love the coaches who take into account each person's particular issues, weaknesses, and strengths. They are quick to offer a modification for injuries, suggest rest when you need it, and provide encouragement through every workout. When I have setback, they talk me through it and offer helpful suggestions for either the exercise or diet portion of the program.
5. What is your favorite Coastal training day of the week and why?
They are all my favorite! I use them to de-stress from the day! I would have to say that I love watching my arm and leg strength progress through the 6 week training rounds. Ladders are love-hate relationship!
